Workshop description

Abstract

The workshop will be a platform for discussing the modeling of advanced user interfaces, such as interfaces supporting complex interactions, visualizations, multimedia representations, multimodality, adaptability or customization. It should contribute to a better integration of knowledge from the human-computer and human-machine interaction communities and the software engineering community. The current workshop builds up on the results of its successor held at MoDELS 2005. Guiding principle is the demand for a flexible composition of various different models to support the model-driven development of user interfaces with a high degree of usability and customization.

Objectives

The workshop aims to:
  • Bring together a community integrating people and knowledge from human-computer as well as human-machine interaction and software engineering.
  • Integrate research lines from model-based user interface development, model-based software engineering, and model-driven software development.
  • Discuss solutions on challenges (identified on the previous workshops (2005 & 2006) in the area of model-driven development of advanced user interfaces.
  • Plan further events on these topics.

Participants

Intended audience of the workshop are specialists from the human-machine interaction and software engineering domains. More precisely, researchers and practitioners from either domain that are interested in bridging the gap to the other domain are welcome to attend the workshop. Knowledge about MDA and UML as well as about user interface modelling is recommended. Participants for this workshop are requested to submit a position paper.

Important Dates

  • Paper submission (deadline): July 18, 2007 (extended)
  • Notification of acceptance: August 24, 2007
  • Final paper: September 6, 2007
