C01: Rough concept

 

The use concept for the selected hardware platform can be prepared in this work step using the analysis completed earlier and the use model that has been developed. This includes:

• Organization of the control panel with respect to operational focus, user groups, short handling paths and, global and context specific functions.
• Plan for a global navigation concept and draft of the related mask structure as well as a proposed design of a sample mask.
• Migration concept into the new system for possible data from legacy systems.

The result is – for the selected hardware – a specific layout of the user interface system, including design of typical sample masks. This occurs with a focus on standard user tasks and the use structure.

 

C02: Detailed concept

In this phase, detailed design of the future user interface takes place on the basis of the results from the previous phases. This includes:

• Color concept
• Icon design
• Fonts
• Accuracy in pixel distribution
• etc.

The detailed planning results in the specific layout of the user interface, including the design of detailed masks customized for a selected hardware. Here, close cooperation with the design department or the external designer is recommended. Documentation is prepared for the detailed layout that explains the various design aspects.
