GMA focus project

Implementation

Our work with the topic of ambient intelligence helps to create the necessary prerequisites and framework conditions for its introduction into commercial industries.

Three areas of study have been included that describe the interfaces for connecting ambient intelligent devices:

User interfaces represent the interface to humans and enables the user to perform his tasks in cooperation with ambient devices.

Sensors pick up local information from the environment while actuators permit intervention into the local environment.

Wireless network interfaces serve as a means of communication with other ambient devices and enable access to the decentralized information and worldwide data bases.

So far, the working group discussions have focused on individual subjects and partially studied these areas separately. These include:

• Wireless networks

• Reliability

• Location based services

• Useware

• Privacy, data security

Further activities

The research group has agreed on the short and mid- term goal of developing a roadmap and completing a leading model. Prior to preparing the standards, the working group is available as an expert partner to government and society for issues and questions concerning “Ambient Intelligence”. This is made possible by numerous members of the business and research communities.
